Where does my website traffic come from?

This might surprise you...

Where does my traffic come from?

In 2020 my digital art business went from 10K a month to 8K..and then 5K...

Why?

I was doing everything exactly the SAME as I was when I was doing 10K a month. I was putting in the time, effort. I was doing more marketing than most other small business owners in my space were doing.

So what changed?

I was getting all of my traffic from Instagram.

I was depending on ONE source for all my traffic.

I wasn't using Pinterest as well as I should have, I wasn't utilizing my email list of thousands of people, I wasn't using paid ads..

I. Was. Just. Using. Instagram.

So when the eyes moved off Instagram over to TikTok (at least a large majority) my business felt it quickly.

It's hard to get in front of eyes that aren't there anymore.

I always say 'innovate or die' - so I had to adapt my strategy ASAP.

This is why its so important to have MULTIPLE traffic sources.

There is no stability in one traffic source. I could have skipped the part where my revenue dropped if I had only better utilized the platforms that were available to me.

When I decided to close that business (not because of revenue, but because it was no longer making me happy - that's a whole other story if you want to hear it) and start The Fast Track Girl brand I knew I had to be on all the platforms + use the power of email if I wanted to have stability.

And yes, TikTok does bring a lot of traffic for me - but the traffic I get from these other sources all adds up too!

So if you're wondering;

"Do I HAVE to be on TikTok?"

- No you don't! There's still lots of traffic to be found elsewhere.

Or "Should I be on more than one platform?"

- Yes you should! Each impression, click, comment matters!

Or "Should I really take building my email list seriously?"

- Absolutely! This is the only asset you own; you're not a slave the algorithm and no social platform can take it from you.

If you made it to the end of this; let me know in the comments:

"I want to be on multiple platforms but my biggest struggle is___________"
